Tick, Tock, Tick...

i do believe that time is still on the move. only one week now until school starts. "are you psyched? you're psyched? good! cuz if you're psyched, you know i'm psyched!" ahem. sorry. i am looking forward to moving back to school. and you, dear reader, will be getting one particular benefit. have you guessed it yet? PICTURES!!! aha! so, even when i don't really have anything to say, at least i can share some little tid bit from summer, or some absurdity from the day's activities. wow. there is such a ton of stuff i could post. pictures i mean.

right now... hmmm. i did have a wonderful weekend. this is the first time in weeks that i've had a saturday off, and it feels like the weekend is just going on forever. and i mean that in a good way. last night i was thinking "i can't believe it's already over." then i realized that i still had a whole nuther day i didn't have to work. by the way, "whole nuther" is one of my favorite phrases.

anyway. be looking for pictures as early as thursday night. that being when the dorms open and i start moving in right after work. if anyone cares to help me carry loads of junk and computer equipment to the seventh floor of steen feel free to volunteer! (there is an elevator, by the way.) have as great week, and i'll see if i can't rummage up some more stories for ya.

Stern Hall, huh? I remember that name, but I can't recall which dorm it is. The funny thing about this is that, to my fickle and VERY untrustworthy memory, it seems like that was a girl's dorm! LOL!

...sorry, and really, ask John...my memory IS truly worthless!! I'm sure I'm wrong. ...really. LOL!

I can't even remember the name of the dorm I lived in...but that WAS around 15 years ago. !(0.0)!

Anyway, enjoy the euphoria while it lasts! (^-^)

I forgot to say...I've "locked" my latest LJ post. Listed LJ friends (like you!) should be able to get in, but if you cannot, let me know!

And...can't wait to see some pics!

hey, actually your memory isn't quite so untrustworthy as you think. one mild correction; it's SteEn Hall. not SteRn Hall. anyway, it consists of two towers, and they did used to be girl's dorms, until this semester. with all the construction (and demolition) going on, the boy's dorm wilson, hall 13, is now gone. in efforts to provide boys with a place to stay, the west tower of steen is now all boys. so that's the deal there. lata.

"a whole nuther" is an example of a tmesis.

hey alicia. are you a regular reader? or just taking a one time glance? if the latter be the case, i suppose you won't be answering, so whatever. unfortunately i think i have to disagree on your comment. i'm pretty sure that "a whole nuther" is NOT a tmesis. after all, it isn't really breaking down a compound word into separate words. nuther is simply a contraction of another. if wholeanother was a word, then you might have some material to argue with. but maybe you're the expert and i don't know anything. anybody else want to offer their imput? for those of you who don't know, here's the definition of tmesis:

tme·sis
n. pl. tme·ses
Separation of the parts of a compound word by one or more intervening words; for example, where I go ever instead of wherever I go.

but feel free to come back and argue your case, alicia!

Tmesis is a very cool word, but whole nuther is just getting "whole new" and "another" jumbled up, at least in my experience..

I must agree with quirky & ludwhig.
The "whole nuther" phrase seems more like quirky showing a momentary redneck side, rather than a true example of tmesis. LOL!
No offense, J! (^_^)

haha! no offense taken. i honestly have very few red-neckish traits i think, so i think i can get by with whole nuther.
